Ice2Thrust Launches Early Adopters Programme

30+ organisations. 12 months. A first look at refill-ready in-space propulsion — and a direct hand in shaping it.

Ice2Thrust is opening its Early Adopters Programme, inviting 30+ organisations to help shape the project’s water electrolysis propulsion technology before it reaches the market. Running for 12 months from September 2026 to August 2027, the programme runs in parallel with our business modelling work and marks a key step in taking Ice2Thrust from research towards real-world adoption.

The goal is simple: to work directly with the organisations who stand to benefit most from the next generation of in-space propulsion. Over the coming year, we will engage potential adopters — satellite operators, mission designers, in-orbit service providers and others — to understand their mission requirements and feed those insights straight into the project’s results.

For participants, early adoption means a front-row view of a hybrid electric–chemical propulsion system designed to be refill-ready, and a genuine opportunity to influence how it develops. Requirements gathered through the programme will directly inform Ice2Thrust’s technical direction, ensuring the technology answers real needs rather than assumed ones.

The findings will also form part of the rationale — alongside our business model — for the project’s Commercialisation and Exploitation Plan. For some early adopters, involvement may become the starting point for a lasting commercial relationship with the technology.
