Ice2Thrust.Space is proud to spotlight Stanislav Dimitrov, Senior System Engineer at EnduroSat, whose journey from theoretical physics to satellite design embodies the spirit of curiosity-driven engineering.
Stanislav has always been driven by a need to understand not just what happens, but why. That instinct led him to a specialised mathematics and natural sciences high school, and later to a degree in Theoretical Physics at Sofia University. Physics gave him a way of thinking — but he wanted to see that thinking become something real. Space, he found, is where theory meets hardware most directly.
He joined EnduroSat in 2020 as a Sales Engineer, before moving into systems engineering: designing mission architectures and guiding satellites from concept through integration and testing. Today, he leads a systems engineering team working on customer missions.
Within Ice2Thrust, Stanislav is responsible for the satellite bus design and analyses — ensuring the platform can host a water electrolysis propulsion system. The defining challenge is fitting everything that system demands into a small satellite where every watt and every gram is already spoken for: power for the electrolyser, water storage, and thermal control. It is the kind of constraint-driven problem that brings out the best in systems engineering.
Looking ahead, Stanislav hopes to see water-based propulsion flying routinely within the next decade — making in-orbit refuelling and truly sustainable missions not a vision, but a standard.
