Ice2Thrust and E.T.COMPACT Join Forces to Advance Space Mobility and Sustainable Propulsion

Ice2Thrust.Space is partnering with E.T.COMPACT, another pioneering Pathfinder Portfolio project, to drive forward innovation in space propulsion and energy sustainability.
Through this collaboration, we will support each other by sharing updates, achievements, and events, enhancing visibility and impact within the global space community. Our joint efforts aim to promote key technological advancements, including E.T.COMPACT’s groundbreaking electrodynamic tether propulsion system, while also exploring opportunities for knowledge exchange, webinars, and joint initiatives.

What will the partnership between our two projects bring?

Dissemination – By joining forces the 2 projects help each other out in the dissemination of the results and amplify the reach and impact of the results. Cooperation by definition and comparison of KPIs relevant to both projects. For instance, comparison of KPIs for sustainability, efficiency or performances of the propulsion systems. Both projects are committed to sustainable space mobility, contributing to self-sustaining space operations. This can converge in information exchange on e.g.: regulatory landscape. Exchange and share relevant results that might be of interest to the other project. For instance, figures on the space propulsion market, trends of the space market etc. – Julia Martín-Fuertes Brañas, Mission Analysis Engineer at PERSEI Space, a partner in the E.T.COMPACT project.

About Ice2Thrust.Space
Ice2Thrust.Space (S4I2T) is an EU-funded project (GA number 101161690) focused on developing a next-generation solar electric water propulsion system and advancing in-space resource utilization and mobility architecture. Launched in September 2024, this 36-month initiative aims to achieve breakthroughs in solar-powered propulsion, in-situ resource utilization, and AI-driven mobility in space.
The project envisions a high-performance platform for autonomous spacecraft docking and propellant refilling, fostering economic and environmental sustainability in in-orbit servicing, robotics, and space manufacturing. By exploring in-space water extraction and utilization from celestial bodies, Ice2Thrust.Space contributes to a self-sustaining circular space economy powered by solar energy harvesting.
