Ice2Thrust.Space at Space Tech Expo Europe 2025

Ice2Thrust.Space was represented at Space Tech Expo Europe 2025, taking place on 18–20 November 2025. The event brought together industry leaders, researchers, investors, and policymakers to discuss the latest advancements shaping the future of space technology.

On Day 3 of the event, our Project Coordinator Chiara Manfletti, Professor at Technical University of Munich and CEO of Neuraspace, participated in a high-level panel discussion focused on in-space solar power technologies.

The session brought together representatives from the European Innovation Council (EIC) WP2023 portfolio projects working in: Advanced Solar Cells; Wireless Power Transmission; In-Space Green Propulsion;

Together, the speakers presented revolutionary approaches and case studies demonstrating how solar energy can be collected, transmitted, and utilised directly in space.

The panel was moderated by Stela Tkatchova, EIC Programme Manager for Space Systems and Technologies at the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency.

Distinguished speakers included:

  • Gonzalo Sanchez-Arriaga, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
  • Dragos Dancila, Uppsala University
  • Francesca De Rossi, Tor Vergata University of Rome
  • Kristiaan Pelckmans, FADO
  • Mikael Syväjärvi, Alminica AB

Following the case-study presentations, an in-depth panel discussion examined critical market gaps, technological challenges, and promising opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of in-space solar energy harvesting.

As a project advancing water-based green propulsion and circular in-space mobility, Ice2Thrust.Space contributes directly to this broader vision of sustainable, solar-powered space infrastructure. Participation in Space Tech Expo Europe 2025 reinforced the importance of cross-project collaboration within the EIC ecosystem and highlighted Europe’s growing leadership in sustainable space technologies.
